Lone Trees, Frozen lakes & dramatic coastline
9-Day Photographic Adventure
Introduction
Wild and remote, Senja is an untouched natural gem.
Norway's second largest island, it is still a relatively unknown photographic paradise compared to its more famous Lofoten cousin. But for no good reason: it has some of the most beautifully wild landscapes I have witnessed.
With many natural forests, frozen lakes and dramatic coastal scenery, Senja offers much for the photographer. At the edge of frozen white lakes I found many beautiful lone-trees to frame in my viewfinder. Like black silhouettes against a winter-white canvas of snow, I found simplicity and beauty here.
Informal small group setting
Bruce likes to run his photography-adventures in a friendly, intimate group setting. This trip has a maximum group size of six.
Unlike a lot of tours with up to 12 or 16 people on them, running with a smaller number allows everyone to have space in which to photograph. It also means more quality time for Bruce and his assistant with each participant.
This trip is more of a tour* than Bruce's normal workshops, due to the logistics involved, but you will get a lot of hands on experience from Bruce while at the same time, immerse yourself with plenty of time out in the field on your own.
* Please note that this is not a workshop. It is a photographic tour, focussed on getting you to great locations for the best light.
Required Fitness Level
Demanding
To get the most out of this adventurous tour, you need to be aware of the physical demands of working in extreme winter weather conditions.
We will sometimes be working in very deep snow. Moving around will be demanding and require a lot of stamina at times. If you have bad knees then you should consider this before booking.
We will have snow shoes to make life easier but you will still find the going requires a lot of exertion. So you need to be mobile and fit enough to handle this.
The weather can often be extremely cold and windy. With snow storms passing through. Temperatures can easily go below zero degrees celsius. If you wear the correct clothing this should be no problem, but you may get very cold hands while operating your camera.
In addition, some of the coastline is very rocky and at times slippery. To enjoy this trip, you should be confident at moving around places with slippery and uneven rocky terrain.
